Livio Gallo

Livio Gallo is the Managing Director of the Networks and Infrastructures Division of Enel and Chief Executive Officer of Enel Distribuzione.

He is also the Chairman and founding members of the EDSO for Smart Grids Association, a group of 11 among major European Energy distributors, constituted in may 2010, part of the European Industrial Initiative on Smart Grids with the TSOs Association ENTSOE.

In addition Livio Gallo is Vice Chaiman of the Eurelectric DSO Director Gathering.

The mission of the Networks and Infrastructures Division is to:

  • provide transmission and distribution of electricity and gas achieving excellence in the quality of service and in the operational activities, optimizing the asset management;

  • to assure the best efficiency in metering systems management ( more than 31 million of electronic meters managed and read from the automatic “Telegestore” system)

From 2004 to 2005, Executive Vice President of Business Area Electric Network of ENEL Distribuzione, the Italian major electric utility which supplies and distributes electricity to over 31 millions of customers in Italy, operate over 1.100.000 km electric lines and over 400.000 substations.

From 2002 to 2004, Executive Vice President of Regulated Sales Area of ENEL Distribuzione, which sells energy to 30 millions of residential and business customers.

From 1999 to 2001, Executive Vice President of Sales Area of Enel’s Gencos for the privatization of Enel’s 15,000 MW of generation power.

Before 1999, he was in Elsag Bailey Process Automation, a Finmeccanica Group’s company, as Area Vice President West Europe and Africa. Elsag Bailey Automation provides automation products and solutions for the Industry and Energy market. He was also member of the Group Executive Committee and Board of Directors of several companies in Europe.
